Recalled Toys are Still Out There

It appears as though the non-stop barrage of toy recalls has subsided and toy makers are now looking to rebuild the trusting relationship they once had with consumers. The big retail stores have stripped the recalled toys from their shelves and parents have gotten them out of the house. The only problem is where some of the toys have ended up, resale stores.

Second-hand resale stores have always been a good place to find a great deal on almost anything, from clothing and furniture to house wares and toys. Ordinarily this is not a big issue but with the recent toy recalls many resale shops have received donations of toys that may or may not be dangerous. Most resale stores do not go through the time and effort to check the Consumer Product Safety Commission website for each and every toy that they receive.

In many cases recalled toys do end up on the shelves and there is a genuine chance that these items could still injure innocent children. Parents should check the CPCS website for up to date information on all recalls and certainly when buying toys from a resale shop. While the scariest part of the toy recalls may be over, there could still be trouble lurking around the bend.
