Baby Bliss Water Recalled Due to Life Threatening Infection

Yesterday the FDA issued a warning to consumers and caregivers citing the presence of Cryptosporidium infection in the apple flavor of Baby Bliss Water. This water contains an herbal supplement used to ease the gas and stomach discomfort associated with colic, hiccups, and teething in infants. The FDA is currently investigating an incident involving a 6-week-old infant that consumed the tainted product.

Symptoms include watery diarrhea, dehydration, nausea, and vomiting and usually are present for one to two weeks. The infection is caused by a parasite and symptoms generally show up between two and ten days after the parasite's introduction. Cryptosporidium infection can be life threatening, especially in infants and the FDA urges parents of children experiencing symptoms after consuming the Baby Bliss Gripe Water to seek immediate medical attention.

The FDA advises parents to discontinue use of the product immediately and any says that any remaining bottles of the product should be disposed of.
